Volunteering at our school

Volunteering at Lift East Wichel

At Lift East Wichel, we always welcome volunteers to assist us with a wide range of activities. Having a good supply of volunteers enables us to do activities with the children that we otherwise wouldn’t and so we are always grateful for your support.  Volunteers with children in the school will be asked to work in another class.

What do you need to do?

You will be asked to

  • Apply for a DBS check.  In order to ensure the safety of our children it is a legal requirement that all regular helpers are cleared by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). This is not as daunting as it may sound and we will help you with this.
  • Meet with our Volunteer Coordinator to discuss what you would like to support the school with and how we can both get the most out of your time with us. This is usually a friendly telephone call.
  • Provide 2 contacts from which whom we are able to obtain references from.

In addition to this if you have resided in another country (other that the UK) as an adult aged 21 years old and over for a period 12 months or more (whether continuously or in total) in the last 10 years, while aged 18 or over. you will also need to obtain police checks from those countries. (Information from www.gov.uk)

You can find out how to do so at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/criminal-records-checks-for-overseas-applicants

There may be additional costs to do this which are not covered by the school.

Please contact the School Office at admin@lifteastwichel.org or call 01793 695134 if you have any questions or follow the link below to start your volunteering journey with us.
